Stormy - 18 yrs.

Date of arrival (1-21-2012)

$400 - Stormy is an 18 year old Morgan/Paint gelding. He stands at 14.1 hands tall and is sound and healthy. Stormy is broke to ride and is good for the vet and farrier. As far as we know, he has only had one owner his entire adult life. He is very sweet and easy to like, plus as cute as they come. He is outgoing and not at all shy. Sadly, his owner passed away about a year or so ago and he has not been worked since. We do know that he was originally broke to ride by Jim Marshall, who had a reputation of being one of the best trainers around. Being that Stormy has just come into the program, we have not yet had a chance to test ride him or really get to know him at all. We will post updates as we learn more. In the meantime, we think Stormy is going to make someone a wonderful horse with a few weekends of refresher work.

Two of my favorite breeds all in on lovely horse. I so wish I had more room and more money. Someone is going to be very lucky to own this horse, I just wish it was me.

What a sturdy, handsome guy!  He'll get noticed on the trail, or anywhere for that matter.

Stormy and Fanny are both settling in nicely.  They are hanging out with each other yet at this point, but a lot of times when horses come in together they do wind up making other friends and sometimes even splitting up eventually when they do make those friends.  We will keep you all updated as we learn more about both Stormy and Fanny.

Here is a picture of them today, 1/23/2012, when it was still snowing a bit, trotting out to pasture.  You would never know that they are 18, they could easily pass for 10.

When I was 13 I started working on a horse farm that raised Morgans, needless to say I fell in love with the breed.  I had to put my Morgan down 8 years ago due to old age, to this day I still miss him.  I would LOVE to have another Morgan in my pasture......he would blend well with my other two paints.

Update: 1-28-2012

We made time to work in a test ride on Stormy last night. He did very well, even better than expected, especially considering that he has not been ridden in at least a year, probably more. Stormy behaved very well and you can tell he has some very good training. He is a high energy horse though and not a horse for a green rider. His rider should be the kind of person who likes some get up and go. Stormy, leads, loads, ties, stops and backs very well. He direct reins, but also kind of gets neck reining as well. He will need a little more work on the neck reining, but that is to be expected for a horse who has not been ridden for so long. Stormy is also a nipper and will need some correction in that area. If he is here for any amount of time we will have that problem fixed before he even gets adopted. This is one cute little horse and he has a ton of personality.

Ooh, he sounds like a fun one to ride!  I like my horses to have a little energy.  And he's the perfect size.

Oh my, isn't he just the coolest little horse?! Would it be against the laws of nature to have two horses named Stormy....hee hee hee...and a nipper to boot! (but that won't be a concern for long :) Really nice guy there.

Stormy got adopted today too!  Both he and Fanny got adopted, but to different homes.  Stormy already left for his new home today and loaded on the trailer like a good boy.  Alyssa met Stormy a few weeks ago and fell in love with him then and finally got a chance to come back today to spend more time with him and ride him and they did great together!  We look forward to hearing about their adventures together too!  Thank you for choosing adoption Alyssa!

Alyssa brought two of Stormy's new pastures mates with her in the trailer today, so Stormy got to meet part of his new family already.  I think Stormy will have to stay home when his little buddies go in to the nursing homes for visits though.  ;)

Here are some pictures from adoption day today, 3/21/2012:

Yay for Stormy!  How neat that Alyssa brought the family with her :D  There is something so great about minis and how much personality they pack in those little bodies!  It seems like Stormy will have the spunk to keep up...so happy to hear about all the adoptions going on! Stormy must have known that he was going to a great home :)

Storm is settling in nicely. He LOVES his mini buddies. The little neighbor girl came and visited him and he stood like a champ while she groomed him and was so well behaved when I put her on his back and walked her around on him. Whenever I walk out to the barn he meets me at the gate and whinnies. He sure is a gem of a horse.
