Update: 4-30-2019

With all the bad weather and our desire to see Baby Cakes get out in the world and be ridden outdoors, we opted to let her stay in training for another month. Not that she was not ready, but an extra month gets her that much more experience and makes her that much more adoptable. That extra months is almost up and she will be back at MHWF and available for adoption very soon, broke to ride and ready to hit the trails!

BabyCakes is in the house!  BabyCakes is now back from training with Katryna Miller of KJ Equine.  BabyCakes, of course, was a stellar student and breezed through her 60 days of saddle training and now going great under saddle at walk-trot-canter (she still gets a little nervous at the canter as she is getting used to it, but does great).  Katryna did work with BabyCakes in a snaffle bit as well as bitless and BabyCakes does great either way.
We will be working on getting some videos of BabyCakes up soon, but please don't hesitate to make an appointment to come and meet this girl in the meantime so you don't miss out!

To reiterate, BabyCakes and her trainer, Brooke, took 1st place in the Youth Division in the Midwest Rescue Horse Trainers Challenge in 2018, (youth was in-hand).  This means BabyCakes had a full 90 days of fantastic ground work and including obstacles and everything you can think of to put on a super solid foundation.  Then BabyCakes moved on to Katryna for the saddle training.  You just can't get better building blocks and things done more correctly than things have been done with BabyCakes.  A mere $500 adoption fee for a horse with thousands of dollars of wonderful professional training.... who is going to be the lucky person to adopt this amazing beauty?

No, I don't. She's cute and I do like her, but I have no room for another horse.

Big thank-you to Chloe and Deb for coming to MHWF today and helping us out with all sorts of things, including getting some video of BabyCakes!  (you guys are so awesome!)
BabyCakes did stellar today, from tacking up, mounting, walk-trot-canter, dismounting, and even after her being ridden under saddle, was unsaddled and ridden in bareback pad.  While Katryna did ride BabyCakes in a snaffle bit as well as bitless, BabyCakes wasn't loving the bit today so we opted to ride her bitless (which is awesome).

I will copy/paste the description from above and then share the video below of some clips I put together from her being ridden today.  I have more video of BabyCakes being ridden in bareback pad as well and will share that when I have more time for uploading.  ๐Ÿ˜‰

Baby Cakes looks so relaxed and comfortable under saddle. Love how she really brings those hind legs underneath her.  Lots of hard work really paying off.

Why is Babycakes still here?  We have no idea.  What a sweet little mare she is.
She had her fall vaccines boosted on Vet Day 11/2/2019 and is ready to go!

Here is the Vet Day video.

BabyCakes is such a good girl.  She continues to do great.  We were fortunate to have Jenni and Jurita come to MHWF yesterday and spend some time with the horses and BabyCakes got ridden quite a bit!  Jenni and Jurita both rode her and I have some pics and video to share.  BabyCakes was also ridden by Jenni while Jurita was riding BayouBelle in the arena, and she handled that like an old pro.

Here are a couple of pictures and a short video clip (I have more video...takes forever to upload!)

Thank you so much to Jenni and Jurita for all of your help!!

Is Cakes finally getting an adopter???

I hope the adoption becomes permanent--little Cakes has been waiting so long.  I should go back to the beginning of her story to when MWHWF first rescued her and review her journey.

It's official!  BabyCakes is adopted!  The lucky young lady is Allison, and we are incredibly happy for both of them.  This has been a very long journey with BabyCakes, from her rescue all those years ago when she was nearly starved to death, rehabbed beautifully, finding a great home but then needing to return some years later, and taking us all the way up to the Midwest Rescue Horse Trainers Challenge in 2018 and winning the Youth In-Hand Division with magnificent trainer, Brooke Kiefer, and then onto saddle training with another incredible trainer who won the Midwest Rescue Horse Trainers Challenge overall in 2019 named Katryna Miller (BabyCakes was not in the 2019 Challenge).  BabyCakes carries pieces of so many people's hearts with her and she will carry those forever.  It is now time for the next chapter for BabyCakes with a teenage girl to call her own named Allison.  We are grateful to have been a part of this amazing journey.

Allison and her mom, Liberty, came and met BabyCakes back in November, and they did great together and Allison had a big smile on her face the whole time she was riding BabyCakes.  The adoption was made official a couple of days ago, and transportation just took place and BabyCakes is now in her new home with Allison.

We look forward to seeing pictures and hearing of their grand adventures together.

A big thank you, congratulations and Merry Christmas to Allison, BabyCakes and Liberty!

Here are a couple of pictures, Allison riding BabyCakes back in November, BabyCakes today getting a little Christmas glam shot done, and then a fun one.
