As Scott said in his update, Harley has been doing just fantastic.  We haven't seen any "testing" or any naughty behavior at all from Harley, not an ounce of anything but "good boy".  We don't know a whole lot about his background, but I think that the time off he had really did him a world of good.  He is like a new little horse.  You know, he does not look like a pony, he looks like a smaller quarter horse.  He does have a lot of energy and we would never say that he is a pony for a complete beginner or a kid's first horse, but he is a great horse for anyone who has a little experience under their belt.  Rachel and Nicole have been riding Harley, and especially Rachel has taken a real liking to him and rode him yesterday (10/27/2012).  Rachel is 11 years old and she and Harley do fantastic together!  Rachel has been just keeping him at a nice relaxed walk to show him that riding is just a relaxing and fun time together and he is really getting it.  Thank you Rachel!

Harley is as sweet as they come, gets along with everyone in the pasture, never a bully or dominant in the pasture and is one of the first horses to greet you and hang out with you when you are in the pasture.  I can't say enough good things about this guy!  He is really a gem and someone will be really lucky to have this guy in their herd.

Here are a couple of pictures of Harley and Rachel from Saturday, 10/27/2012:

This pony would be in our pasture for sure if we had more room, $$$, and time.  Love Harley boy.
I haven't updated Harley's thread here in a while, but Rachel continues to ride Harley whenever she gets a chance.  Harley loves coming out and follows Rachel around all over the property like a puppy dog.  Harley continues to do great and is really learning that riding doesn't mean go, go, go and is becoming very relaxed under saddle.  He continues to do just fantastic!  Thank you so much Rachel!

Rachel rode him again today and I did happen to snap a couple of pics, 11/24/2012:

Scott, Thank you for talking with me this morning about Harley. I can not wait to meet him!
Harley's dear friend Rachel came out this weekend and spent some time with him.  Unfortunately, it's too icy to ride, but he still got some good quality time.  :)

He is so cute!  Can't believe someone hasn't snatched him up yet, especially for that adoption fee.  I was on a forum the other day where many of the riders were saying how they preferred a small horse or pony.  Easier to tack up, easier to groom, and easier to hop on, and easier to fall from :).  Harley is the perfect size-small enough for kids and big enough for adults.

In group lessons there are three smaller horses/ponies-2 Fjords and a black pony, maybe Harley's size, all ridden by adults.
It's officially spring, the ice is gone, and what would a beautiful Saturday be here at the farm without Rachel riding Harley?!  Wow, it felt good to have such a fun day at the farm.  Rachel had a birthday since our last update and she is now 12, and her and Harley sure do enjoy each other's company.  They picked up right where they left off before all of the ice and snow of winter.  :)

He really is adorable!!  So nice to know he sat for a while, and picked up right where he left off, that is wonderful.  He is going to make someone a great partner!

Looks like they had a blast together :)

Love that look on Rachel's face...smile...what a pair!

I have loved reading all about Harley for the last week. I started following his story after meeting Scott and Karen at the Horse Fair in Madison. As soon as we got back to the motel that night we went on line to the rescue site and discovered Harley. Fell in love with his looks, size and his story. Can't wait to meet him in person soon!

Hi Dedee! Sure hope you do get to meet Harley real soon. Happy you got to meet Karen and Scott at the Fair and learn all about MHWF.
Exciting news!  Harley got adopted today!  Dedee came and met Harley and it was love at first sight.  :)  Dedee has been thinking about Harley and reading about him and her and Gena made the trip over to meet Harley.  Gena just adopted Rosie a couple of weeks ago, and it looks like Rosie and Harley will be meeting up again for some trail rides coming up this year!  Dedee did great with Harley, and Gena rode him too and did great.  Harley loaded up like a champ too.  We are very excited for Harley and for Dedee!  They are going to do great together!!  Thank you so much for choosing adoption Dedee, and congratulations!!  We look forward to hearing of your adventures together.

Harley left for his new home today with his adopter, Dedee. I want to explain the beautiful blue halter that Harley is wearing. A wonderful lady named Toni came by the MHWF farm brought 20 halters, 10 pink and 10 blue. The Sandy Hook tragedy hit her really hard and she was thinking about the 20 acts of kindness and she came up with this idea. Each horse that gets adopted now will leave with a beautiful rope halter with attached lead rope, pink for the mares and blue for the geldings. You will notice that there is a little horse figure attached to the halter, and each one of those little wooden horses attached to the halter has the name of a Sandy Hook victim on it.  What a wonderful way to remember them and share their memory!  Here is an adoption day picture of Harley and Dedee, and the beautiful blue halter in remembrance of JESSE from the Sandy Hook tragedy.

I couldn't decide which picture to share, so am sharing a couple.  :)

Congratulations! I really liked Harley (on paper, I never actually met him) and thought he'd be a fun trail partner. You are so lucky, and you two look good together. He looks really nice in his halter too.

I've always thought that Harley is adorable.  He looks especially good in his blue halter (it must be his color).  Congratulations to both you (Dedee) and Harley!
I am so happy for Harley.  Congrats Dedee!  That boy is a hunk of love!!

I think Rachel deserves a huge pat on the back for taking Harley under her wing and making him more adoptable by riding him over the last year. You have helped give him a chance at a new home and I hope you continue to do things like this!

Congrats to everyone on this adoption!!!

Dedee, we love pictures and updates so feel free to post away!

Huge Congratulations! The photos say it all! Happy trails to you...and yes, we love updates :)

Wonderful news!! Congrats to Harley and Dedee.
THANK YOU RACHEL!!! I absolutely LOVE Harley! He is exactly who I have been looking for! I am almost 5ft tall and my last horse was 16.1. I was determined to find a buddy close to my height that I could grow old with. My daughter Morgan is going off to college in the fall so it was important to me to find a horse I felt comfortable riding alone. Harley has the sweet, quiet personality that's easy to fall for. We are going to take things slow and get to know each other. I am in NO hurry. Rachel, you have done a fabulous job with Harley. You have helped make it possible for Harley to find his forever home. He will miss you and never forget you. (Getting Harley home) The 2 hour drive home went smooth. Just hit a little rain and beat the snow. Unloaded Harley and got him all settled in his huge stall right next to Jax who is 16 hands. They look identical except for their size difference. Jax was thrilled to see another horse because he's been alone since last June. Harley wasn't interested in Jax at all but the two pygmy goats definitely had his attention. I am computer illiterate so it may take a couple days to get pictures on Harley's thread but it WILL happen...stay tuned! :-)
