Piroska got adopted today!  Terry and her husband made the trip up along with their little granddaughter to meet Piroska and she seemed to be just what they were looking for.  We did get rained on, but what a great day anyway.  Terry has two other adoption horses and many of you may remember Lucy and Laney, both Tennessee Walkers.  Piroska gets to join the other MHWF adoption horses in her new home!

Here is a picture of Piroska with her adopter, Terry, from adoption day, 6/12/2013.  I want to explain the beautiful pink halter that Piroska is wearing.  A wonderful lady named Toni came by the MHWF farm brought 20 halters, 10 pink and 10 blue.  The Sandy Hook tragedy hit her really hard and she was thinking about the 20 acts of kindness and she came up with this idea.  Each horse that gets adopted now will leave with a beautiful rope halter with attached lead rope, pink for the mares and blue for the geldings.  You will notice that there is a little horse figure attached to the halter, and each one of those little wooden horses attached to the halter has the name of a Sandy Hook victim on it.  What a wonderful way to remember them and share their memory!  Here is an adoption day picture of Piroska in the beautiful pink halter in remembrance of GRACE from the Sandy Hook tragedy.

Thank you, and congratulations Terry!

I agree, mel.  That photo should be titled "Tickled Pink"!  Congratulations, Terry, you look like a great pair.
Congratulations to Pepper and her new family. May the Sandy Hook victim always be remembered.
Wishing you all many years of happiness together
Can't imagine a bigger smile.  The excitement just jumps out to us. Congrats.

Piroska - 20 years

$500 - Piroska is a 20 year old registered Dutch Hungarian Warmblood mare that has been part of MHWF for many years, so we know her very well. Her sire is is the very well known Ulft and her dam is H. Mercedes. Piroska stands at an even 16 hands and is an accomplished English, Dressage, trail horse and is a horse just about anyone with some experience in the saddle can ride. She is super laid back, very easy going and mellow. Piroska's adopter passed away a couple of years ago and her husband has had her since then, but has to move, so Piroska is back here with us at MHWF. We have absolutely nothing but good things to say about Piroska. She is a wonderful, well-behaved mare, with world class breeding and training and will make someone a stellar trail partner. Piroska is current on everything and is very sound and healthy.

Aww.  She is looking perfect and beautiful.
What a beauty! Hope she finds her forever home soon.
It is looking like someone from Piroska's past might be a big part of her future.  More to come soon...
Piroska's adoption journey is an interesting one, and while was surrounded by some sadness, turns out to be a very heartwarming journey at that.

Piroska was adopted out back in 2011 by Kristin, and Kristin found herself in a spot in life with a new baby and other things that forced her to return Piroska to MHWF in 2013.  Then Piroska was adopted by a wonderful lady named Terry.  Very sadly, Terry passed away in 2015.  Terry's husband and daughter kept Piroska after Terry's passing, but now in life Terry's husband found himself having to move into town and not able to keep horses, so Piroska returned to MHWF again just last week in June 2018.  Kristin saw that Piroska had returned to us and sent us an email immediately that she was now in a position to take Piroska back, and that is exactly what happened!  Kristin came and adopted Piroska back yesterday, 7/1/2018.  We are so thrilled for both Piroska and for Kristin!!  Sometimes there are big twists and turns in life, and we are so happy that MHWF was able to be a part of Piroska's journey that led her back to Kristin!

A big thank-you to Kristin, and congratulations to both Piroska and Kristin!

Here is an adoption day picture from 7/1/2018, and that is a white peacock strutting his stuff in the background for the shot.  😉

What a wonderful story!  Does he remember you, do you think?  Will he be living at the same place he did all those years ago?
Carla (Wis)
Oops....SHE, not he!

Wow! What a great story! Congratulations!
Love happy stories😊
I was wondering if this would happen. I don't know those involved personally but just by following their story. Love it!

Wow. So glad for both of you. Congrats.

Piroska has settled in great at home. My gelding Scooter was here with her back previously and I am pretty sure they remembered each other instantly. They were grooming each other over the gate within minutes. We do not live at the same place anymore however, we only moved down the road, basically next door to our old house so everything is somewhat familiar for her. When she was with us previously, it was just her and my gelding G for most of the time. We had to put G down last summer so he isn't around now but I found it interesting that Piroska has been calling out a lot, she will just stop and call out then look around. I can't help but wonder if she is trying to "find" G as she knew he should be here. Introductions went well. Scooter and her picked up as though no time passed. Lady, my other adopted horse, is so easy going, she was very welcoming. Now my son's pony, that was another story. It was quite entertaining watching Peanut put on her best "mean" face, pinning her ears, and trying to herd Piroska all over and Piroska would only look at her like your kidding right, which would then send Peanut running and squealing in the other direction, it was quite entertaining. But all is well...I love looking out my window and seeing Piroska out there. I feel to lucky that she was able to come home with me once again and for Scott and Karen for giving me the second chance with her. Without MHWF this wouldn't have probably happened!! Here a couple pics from the first day. One of her and Scooter (which is a big deal as Scooter never shares his food!) and the other of the whole herd, Lady is by Piroska in that pic.

What a great outcome! Tears in my eyes reading this. Thank you MHWF and Karen and Scott et al for being there for everyone involved. This is why we chose the adoption option so many years ago. The peace of mind knowing Festin always has a soft place to land.
Good story, good photo and good peacock!
