The Midwest Horse Welfare Foundation, Inc. is finally on ResQwalk!! I know a lot of you out there use FitBit and other such things, so maybe you will want to check out ResQwalk. All you do is download the app to record your walks, runs or workouts, the app records it for you. ResQwalk will in turn donate money to the charity that you record your activities for, it's that simple. Just search for Midwest Horse Welfare Foundation once you download the app.

Wow, so thrilled to have received about $28.00 from ResQwalk last month!  Thank you to our walkers!!!!

I hope to see more of you sign up and use this.  It's so simple, and who knew it would be so easy to raise money for horses?  It is as simple as a quick download, and then when you go to use it, you just click "start", when done with your walk/activity then hit "finish" and it's that simple.  It just doesn't get any easier than that, and it is also very fun to see how much you are walking, running, riding or whatever your activity is.

This app is absolutely fantastic!  It is so easy to load, it's free, and very simple to use!

I want to thank our rescue walkers:

I just signed up - Just wondering how people use it?  Looks like it won't work on a treadmill...do you use it walking?  Riding?  Driving in a car, or is that cheating?
Scott
 #5
It tracks you via the GPS on your phone, so as long as you are moving......

Thank you Heike!

It currently doesn't have a pedometer type mechanism to it, so it does not work on ellipticals or treadmills, but they are working on that and it will be able to do that soon.  I told them us Wisconsinites need that feature with the winters we have.  [smile]
Like Scott said, it will record anything as long as you are moving.  [wink]

I keep forgetting to bring my phone out with me during chores, but going to get better about that.  Every step counts!  [smile]  Thanks Kara!

Gaaaa!  I keep forgetting too.  By the way, I did try it in the car, and it totally shut me down.  Kept track of my time but did not put on any miles.  They are too smart for cheaters like me!

Heike, are you sure that you signed up under Midwest Horse Welfare Foundation?  I do not see you as one of our walkers.  I will check again and see if I can find you, but when I looked this morning you weren't listed.
It won't record anything over 14 miles per hour.  [smile]

Just checked for you Heike, and you are not listed as one of our walkers.  Not sure what is going on, but I can help you get it figured out when you have a chance to look and see how you are signed up.

Hi
I would love to try this app, the only problem is that I have a flip phone, and not an android or I phone. I do have a fit bit is there any way I could my steps from my fit bit?

Hi Mary, and thank you so much for that offer!  I really am not sure on that, but I will shoot them an email and ask if that is possible.

I do know they are working on the pedometer part of things and making the ResQwalk compatible with ellipticals and treadmills, anxiously awaiting that.  [smile]

So if it will record up to 14 miles per hour riding house should count unless running [wink]

I did download the app, now I just have to remember to use it when I take my dogs for walks.

I just downloaded this. I was impressed at how well MHWF is doing in the rankings, considering we are all stuck up here in a wisconsin winter. Way to go everyone!

Michelle, horseback riding definitely counts.  [smile]  That is my biggest issue too, is remembering to use it, but I am getting much better at that finally.  Thank you for helping!

Tracy, thank you for jumping on board!  You are right, it is very impressive how well we are doing in the ranks considering that our people so far are all from WI and our weather, as well as the fact that a lot of these other organizations have been signed up for a long time and have well over 1000 ResQwalkers and we only have 17 so far (maybe that number has gone up now, I'll have to check).  It won't surprise me at all when I see MHWF in the #1 spot with the caliber of MHWF's supporters!

Just a quick bump up for the rescue walk post. Don't forget to turn it on and use it! Easy money if we all do it. It is almost pasture seeding time, for those of us with walk behind seed spreaders, we should have LOTS of miles soon. Just think, we can grow our own feed, and help some great rescue horses, all at the same time and with only about 5 seconds of extra effort to turn it on.

I want to give a big shout out and THANK YOU to everyone who has downloaded and is using the ResQwalk for Midwest Horse Welfare Foundation!!  You guys rock!!!!

With one of the payments we received from ResQwalk we were able to finance feeding one horse for 2 full weeks, and that is a big deal.  We truly appreciate everyone who has taken the time to download the app and think of MHWF when taking a walk, a small bike ride, a ride on your horse, any activity that you are tracking (less than 14 mph).  The more people who use this app consistently, the more money it brings in for the horses.  Thank you!!!

Guys!!!! NOW is the perfect time to bring this back up and push ourselves to use it! I’ve been off and on the app since the beginning and there have been some dedicated others!!! But I bet a lot of us, with this social distancing, are getting out with our animals more!? I know I am!!!!

Also, have you guys ever checked out the RoundUp app? Something to consider looking into, maybe? I included a screenshot of the IG account I learned of it on: a goat rescue/sanctuary. Their caption is super insightful!

Thanks Hannah!    I'm one of the consistent ones doing this for a few years now too.

Might not amount to much, but it can't hurt either.

I see you on there all the time, Deb!

It seems like they pay out around one penny per mile. But every penny adds up! It’s so easy to do-just remember to turn it on and off when doing activities!!

I’ve used it:
Waking
Hiking
Roller blading
Bicycling
Horseback riding (& around the barn just doing ground work or chores!!)
Snowboarding/skiing (who says a lift ride doesn’t count: hehe!!)

Places we could use it:
On the golf course!!
Cross country skiing!?
Snowshoeing.
Shopping downtown/mall walking!
Mowing the lawn!?!?
On our farm equipment in the fields (14mph!)??
