Shexa Roxie - 12 yrs.

$500 - Roxie is a 12 year old Arabian mare and if you are into Arabs, like we are, wow, nice looking horse!. Roxie is sound, healthy, broke to ride and stands at 14.3 hands tall. She has been ridden almost exclusively Western. She is very quiet and respectful and is always at the bottom of the totem pole in the herd. Roxie is current on everything she needs for 2016 and is in excellent shape. She is not super experienced under saddle, but once you build her trust, she will give you her all. She needs a little more work tying, but does great in cross ties. No special needs, smart, good looking. We will post more info as we get to know Roxie better.

This pretty mare DOES have "Jenni O" written all over her!  Isn't it time for another project?  She seems super nice, someone will be very lucky.

Funny, the first thing I said when I saw Roxie was how much she reminded me of Pea (and also Becca from years ago as well as Tiger Lily).  [smile]

She does look a lot like Pea and Tiger Lily...but I don't recall Becca) Look Jenni...Look!

I'm looking! But I don't have room for her and Teddy. Or either one of them. Sigh. I'll just keep looking...

Myself and others were scoping out some of your pictures Jenni O - looks like there is enough room to me...
Heck if one can have a hidden 25th anniversary party I bet one could sneak lil Teddy in a pasture without much fuss, what do you think Wendy?

Sheza beauty for sure!  I thought of you too Jenni O. [wink]  Looks so much like Pea and any other horse you would like.  My Arab looks like her too with coloring and facial markings.  Love those Arabs!

As mentioned on the other 2 horse's threads, Roxie came in with Felix and Athena from the same home, having all lived together for about 7 years.  We had to keep them in the paddock for a while and transition them to pasture (in and out of paddock to pasture for varying times in the transition).  In observing their behaviors I had predicted that Roxie would probably split from this group of 3.  I thought she would have done that within the first couple of days once out to pasture, but it took a little bit longer.  Roxie has been spending more and more time away from Felix and Athena, and now today (7/20/2016), I can officially say that Roxie no longer hangs out with Felix and Athena.  Roxie has made friends with Hope, Brandie and Abe and mostly and hangs with them, but is quickly making other friends out in the pasture.  All 3 horses are doing very well and Roxie really is a gem!  Someone is going to be very lucky to call this girl their own.

Update: 7-23-2016

Finally some time to do some test riding on a few of the horses and Roxie was one of them. As we suspected, she did very well and is an awesome horse. Super sweet, well trained and looks to match. She did not question a single cue and did walk, trot, canter and back down, no problem. She is not a horse for a new or timid rider, but in the hands of someone with a little experience, she is going to be a real gem of a find. No bad habits, comes when called, put together beautifully, this is a very nice horse and someone is going to be very glad they called to try her out.

I only snapped a few pictures of Roxie with my cell phone, because I was trying to take video clips of her.  I will share a couple of the pictures from my cell phone here, and I will try to get the video uploaded later today (it's a long drawn out process to upload video and I had trouble with that yesterday but will keep trying).

Me too, Doreen.  After having Roxie out yesterday for riding and attention, as soon as she saw me today she was begging to come out again.  A true gem.

It takes us forever to upload videos and it eats up all of our bandwidth, so when I do videos they are very short clips.  Here is a short video clip of Roxie being ridden for the first time here at MHWF.  Roxie is a bit overweight and out of shape, but she did fantastic on her first ride here (update above)

I'm surprised that more people haven't taken a shine to this horse!  She was such a good girl under saddle, comfortable gaits at the walk, trot and canter, a good stop, and responsive to aids.  She is definitely overweight and a bit our of shape, but I can only imagine what this girl will be capable of with some consistent riding/exercise!  Plus that means she is an easy keeper, which is always nice too. I'm sure she would be able to go in pretty much any direction. She already has the basics down, just needs some finishing in whatever discipline you want, or ready to go as a trail horse with someone who can teach her the ropes about being a trail horse.

Roxie got adopted yesterday!  I haven't had much for computer time, but catching up today.  Tracy came with her sons and met Roxie and they all loved her.  Tracy and Roxie did great together riding also!!  Tracy is getting back into horses after a long hiatus and we are happy that she chose the route of adoption and that Roxie and her hit it off so well together!  Roxie is going to have fun with a little arena work and learning about the trails too.

Roxie is still here with us at MHWF, but I believe Tracy is coming next weekend to pick up her girl.  We did an adoption day photo yesterday anyway since it wasn't raining and with this weather, who knows what next weekend will bring.  [smile]

Thank you so much for choosing adoption, Tracy, and congratulations!!

Here is the official adoption day picture of Roxie and Tracy from yesterday, 9/24/2016.
