Thanks everybody…but I must of said things way wrong cause I got yall worrying bout things you should not.  I am gonna try and be to the point and clear things up…

1 Janie does not run off

2 I did not stop using the halter & lead

3 Janie tried two times to rocket launch…of those 2 times she got away from me….that was some time back….other then that she never tries to get away.

4 I could do real work with her in the pasture…just figured it would be better to wait until the pen is done…got tons of other things that have to get done so

5 I just play around with the girls showing them new things and teaching them silly words

6 Janie is great at checking out new things without her halter and lead…she sometimes does not react at all…sometime she dances in place…she may quickly lunge forward a bit….but she never runs off

7 We been playing these little games to the point Janie almost never jumps anymore…she is like….ooooo here we go again…something new….hurry up…show it to me and give me my cigar

5 By ‘next level’ I meant actually getting serious and going over what Ryan taught her and moving forward

6 The only serious work I have been doing is with Durango’s back feet

Now, I know I should already be to the point of easily picking those back feet up, but there has been some trial and error along the way.  Having said that, I am now happy to report that after just 2 days of working with the stick and ‘pick it up’ on the back...I can now reach down with my hand and tap her back leg…say..pick it up….and she does so without even a hint of kicking….that is huge

I will try and get a pic if hubby is fast enough…it is early so we do it pretty quick….later I will touch her leg as if to hold it..and so on…

Just to let you know how the no halter lead rope work (messing around) came about was because the girls are nosey nosey….for instance…I was walking in the pasture with a drywall bucket that they just had to investigate the heck out of….they pestered that bucket to the point I thought….well….you like this bucket so much….you carry it…so I rolled the bucket on Janie….she stiffened up the first time…after that….no big deal…she got the cigar that I always carry in my pocket.  Another time was when my daughter over with a little girl she was watching…the girl had a giant bunny…nosey girls were fascinated with that bunny so…I asked the girl if she thought the bunny wanted to go for ride…she excitedly said yes…so I let the girls check out the bunny then I sat it on top of Janie…..  I don’t do this with Durango because she will walk off…so I always put her halter and lead on unless it is something she readily accepts.

Wendy…I can not take her out of the pasture to work with…..Durango gets upset and prances around and calls to her….this of course gets Janie excited.  I figure we will just play around and get to the work when the pen is done….it will be done by the first of Sept.

Anyhow, I think I really gotta watch my wording cause you folks really pay close attention…thank you for that…I hope all this rambling makes sense.

Karen, I always always leave the girls on a happy note...I've done that from day one....I enter on a happy note and leave the same way.  I think it is because of this that the girls know my truck and when they see me pull in the drive they come running....I just think that is pretty cool

Just getting a chance to catch up here, and wow look at Durango with Gloria back there in her no-go zone!  AWESOME!  Great job woman!!!!  You should be excited!
I tell ya, with these horses that need some work and have a few special needs here and there or issues, we tend to wind up with such a strong bond with them.  That extra time that we spend always pays off in the end.  I don't know if I am articulating this correctly, but I think you know what I mean...when we break through with trust issues with a horse we wind up with a bond much stronger than with just the average horse.  Anyway, good job Gloria, what a proud moment!!

I have to agree with what Karen said.  If they are tougher to get through something, and you do it, the rewards are sooooo much better and so is the bond.  This is excellent.  Really excellent.

Thanks Sara, Denise, Wendy & Karen   Karen, I totally understand what you mean.  The girls and I are developing a special bond like no other.  The feeling one gets from seeing a horse with trust issues start trusting is just amazing.  The end result will be over the top awesome.

I had to tell yall about my clown...Janie.  Last night hubby and I were out.....I was going through the pick-up feet routine with the girls.  Janie is a pro...we just do it so she can earn some easy treats.

Anyways, I was working with Durango saying "pick it up" tapping on her front leg when I hear hubby say "honey, turn around."  I turned and I don't know if I laughed or cried...probably both....There stood Janie on 3 legs just looking at me

I love my girls

Well...I'm am so tired..but I can now hold miss kicky's hoofs in a respectable horseman way.....If I get  pics...you will no longer see me ready to hi tail it...hehe

Anyways....for Durango....we r back on for a back end trim job on Monday....no drugs....I am working so hard to make that happen.....please send some good mojo my way....wishing I learned how to trim feet......it would already be done.....awwwwh..send me good thoughts!

PS Janie is doing great....I just discovered tonight that they found the pasture on the other side of the creek.... no wonder the h20 has been just hangin around....they found the running creek and have been having a good old time watching me change the h2o that they are not drinking....grrrrrr!

Thats all ok cause they are living a wild horses dream with vet care etc.

I LOVE my critters!

Wonderful updates Gloria! I especially love the story about Janie standing on 3 feet when you asked Durango to!! So glad to hear things are going so well!! Smokey came to me with some trust issues too so I understand exactly what you are saying. I had some apprehensions about lifting her back hoofs too but we worked on things together & once she realized I was never going to hurt her things just blossomed. It's the best feeling ever. Keep up the great work!!

Living at your house does sound like a horse's dream Gloria! Could Vinny and Candy come there too? Oh course, it's a long way, so my family and I would all have to move in too

LOL Sara

Well, in the wake of the sad news about Chocolata, I wanted to post some happy pictures to maybe help sooth the heart ache.

Saturday we pulled truck into the pasture to haul some stuff for a project.  I rode on the tailgate.  The girls chased the truck all the way to our destination.  I missed out on some great pics.  So, Sunday I jump on the tailgate camera in hand and got these pics.  They put on a much better show Sat. because they knew I did not have a camera....hehe

1st pic...girls spotted the truck...no wait....they spotted ME on the tailgate...hehe  "Mommy, wait for us."

2nd pic is a stunning Jaine girl.  Durango stopping to check out Max and make sure he is behaving himself.

3rd pic is "Lets race Mommy up the hill...yippee...we are winning!"

Karen & Scott, without you...these enjoyable days & pics would never be.  Thank You!

Love the pictures Gloria!!  You are right - for all of us adopters, without Karen and Scott, we would not have the wonderful horses we have in our lives now!

Naw BOB Mom...I am square in the middle of Illinois.  Too dang cold where you folks are....hehe

Anyhow, I will be off the radar for sometime....so, I have to say sorry about missing all yall's pretty pics, announcements, etc....I hope I can catch up....but.....I surely doubt it.

Anyways, any of yall travelin through my neck of the woods have a place to stay (and sorry) more importantly your horses and dogs have a place......3 star for you.....6 star for them....hehe

I wanted to leave you with a story about rubbing durangos back legs....when the flys go aways at night......I always sneak out and just scratch and rub her back legs....loosing Chocolata and reading about the bond with Burt Northern Mn just reminded about how powerful a gentle voice and patience can be.

Finally, the girl will not stop putting her butt in my face....scratch me ma, awww gotta Itch on my leg....nobody ever did this for me.....scratch scratch......

By the way...ma says....no kidding....you tried to kick everybody

Pease and love be with you all.....talk to ya in about 3 weeks or so......Take Care All!
