That lead looks like a dead-end...I haven't heard back from the person that said she would get back to me on it. |

| #52 | Janie is so cute - I can't believe someone is not missing her. If that were my horse I would search everywhere to find her. Wish she could tell us her story. So glad she is with you two, so that you can show her that someone loves her and that all humans are not bad. With a little love and attention, everyone blossoms. |

| #53 | I don't know if you have renamed Janie or if you will, but I like what BritValley just said about love & care causing everyone to 'Blossom'. Just an idea. Do you have a name for her yet? I like Janie a lot also. |

Well, little Janie surely recognizes the name "good girl". We haven't really picked a name yet though, but the name Janie is really starting to grow on everyone. |

I'm always trying to get people to name their pets, children, and whatever Joanie. It never works! But Janie is nice and close so if you're taking votes, Janie gets my vote! |

What a wonderful rescue story here. If you haven't heard it enough, Scott and Karen you really do make a difference in the horse world! Janie sure sounds like she's coming around pretty fast and it is due to your dedication and love. Keep up the awesome work. |

What about Lil' Liza Jane? Then you could call her Liza or Janie, depending on the person and the company you are around? Just in case Scott's mom is visiting . . . "Hey, have you met Liza? ". And then of course, everyone will have to sing the song . . . Come on guys . . .all together now *singing* "oh Eliza, little 'Liza Jane" |

| #65 | When you look in her eyes you can see the kindness she's got inside of her!!! My TB got the same look!!! My Gilette was abused I rescued her in 2001 she was beated up pretty bad with a shavel and 2X4. Somebody broke a bit on her back!!! Took me a good 2 years to put my hand in the air in front of her face she was jumping thinking I was gonna beat her!!! We had to remove her from that farm with the police it was so sad!!! One horse failed on the ice and broked her leg and died frozen in that field cause that jerk of owner was too lazy to go and help her out he didn't want to spend anymoney on his horses!!! They were there to bring money to him and not the other way around!!! Well let me tell you when I was done with him he didn't have anything left they found shelter for all the horses and 2 cows!!! The cheif of police told me that he knew something was going really wrong overthere but he couldn't nothing until he had a complaint. Well I got my horse out of there took picture of all the horses and the places including the field with dangerous stuff. Took one hour for the police to remove all the animals. My husband was proud of me! Today don't touch my girls!! When I am typing I can ear the cayottes screaming that makes me nervous!!! I am going to check my girls now Good night!

| #66 | Just wanted to give a couple of quick updates on Stormy and Jane Doe (we are calling her 'Janie' as that name has really stuck). It will be two weeks tomorrow (Thursday, 05/10/07) since Jane Doe was captured in Portage County, and it will be two weeks on Friday since she arrived here. We went over a little bit about Janie and her condition upon arrival, and to update the bad wound on her front leg is healing very well, actually healing so well it doesn't look like there will even be much of a scar eventually (in good time). The infection cleared and it really started healing rapidly. She has been off of her antibiotics for a few days now already and is showing no signs of any type of illness or infection. The wounds on her hind-end have healed up beautifully. She had many knicks, cuts and scrapes and they are all doing well.
Psychologically, Jane Doe was a real mess and extremely afraid of people. I do not like rumors much at all, but I have heard rumors that people were shooting her with BB guns and the like to "shoo" her out of their yards while she was running loose. I have also heard where she came from, from more than one source, but there is no way to truly prove any of this at this point, and the person is denying any involvement at this point. The positive side of this is that Janie is truly safe and sound now and she is gradually learning to trust. A steady routine every day is making a huge difference in her, and handling her on a daily basis multiple times is really bringing her around. She now accepts hand-grooming very well on her left side all the way to her butt, and easily lets us handle her legs. She is becoming less head shy with each day. She still has her "off" times when it seems that she takes a step or two backwards, but that is to be expected...it will take a lot of time for all of this. She still has a long way to go, and is very shy on her right side and to her back end, as horses with trust issues so often are. In the very short time she has been here, she has really come leaps and bounds, but she has a very long way to go. We want to thank everyone again for all of your kindness and support through all of this. Here is a quick picture I snapped of little Janie late this afternoon at feeding time. You will not see any drastic changes in her appearance at this point, as she hasn't even been here for 2 full weeks yet, but you can see she is looking very relaxed at me with my camera only standing a few feet away from her while she is munching on her hay. That is a drastic change from last week already. She is shedding nicely also now and has a very dark summer hair underneath there.

Most of you are already familiar with Stormy and her story (you can read Stormy's profile on the adoption horse's page also). Stormy is progressing slowly but surely and loves her routines. She is still a little more wary of people she doesn't know, but with having so many visitors to the farm it really helps her be exposed to a lot of different people, and she has actually become a little bit of a treat begger (I take fault on that). Stormy has really gained weight and filled out nicely and that healthy summer hair has really made a difference in her looks. Stormy learns very quickly, and we are very much looking forward to our friend Deb, who is a wonderful trainer and understands horses like Stormy, to come and help Stormy learn even more and help us make her adoptable. This concentrated time with Stormy will make a huge difference, and we are very excited that this will be happening next Thursday already.
Stormy's pictures are quite different than Janie's, since Stormy has been here longer and she looks quite different with the added pounds and the healthy summer coat shining already. Here is a glimpse of Stormy shortly after her arrival:

Here is a glimpse of Stormy from this afternoon (05/09/2007):

Thank you again everyone! These kind and beautiful horses are worth every minute of time and every penny put into them. Neither of them ever did anything wrong that got them in their bad situations...humans did this to them and it is our responsibility and duty to right the wrongs done to them. They are both absolute gems, and we thank you all for your kindness and support! |

All I can say is wow. The difference already is amazing. For both of them. Of course the obvious differences in Stormy, what a beautiful girl she has become in such a short time. But then I look at the picture of Janie and see the relaxed posture and the whole aura of calm. Especially after her ordeal, I won't even begin to get into what I want to say about the arses shooting her with BB guns, I can't believe she is accepting so much already. That just shows how much she wants to be loved and accepted by people that care. Keep up the good work and I am counting the days until I can see these beautiful little ladies in person. That is unless someone wants to step up and carry out the hard work you have begun with Stormy......................... |

WOW is right, Melissa! Stormy looks AWESOME! And I loved the video of Janie. How about "Buena" - that is the femenine form of the adj. "good" in Spanish, since you said she is a good girl! Scott, you ol' softie with the treats! |

| #70 | Unbelievable!! I was going to comment on how much better Janie looks, but that has been totally overshadowed as I read on and saw the pictures of Stormy! Janie just gives off the look of a much happier, healthier horse--that summer coat is beautiful. Stormy, wow, what an adorable little thing she is turning out to be. I always thought she had such a sweet look to her from ther first photos; that really shines through now. Thank you to everyone doing such a wonderful "extreme makeover" on these two horses. |

Thank you so much for this update. It is absolutely heartwarming to witness this. When I think of my horses, who have never been anything less than pampered and trusting and then read about these youngsters and appreciate their forgiving nature - it is truely amazing. It is nice to know their futures are now bright and they will someday be a treasured part of someones family. Thank you again. (Man am I getting sappy in my middle age ) |
