so ive been waiting a very long time for someone to start a post about Doc, and no one has, so i started my own...anyways we are very interested in Doc and would like a little more info on him. We are filling out an application now to send in so we can hopefully get approved and come see him before he is adopted!

Hello!  I was waiting too...We donated Doc and didn't know if it was in "good taste" to toot "my" horse's horn or whatever.  I'm paranoid like that.

Anyway, he is a really cool horse that needs the right leader to believe in and he will make someone one heck of a nice horse.  If you have any questions you can sure get my e-mail or phone number from Scott & Karen and I'd be happy to tell you all about him as would the trainer I had him with for his 60 days.  He is a stunning mover and wants to please.  My fingers are crossed for you guys!

Here's a picture of him from last summer.  (if it works)

Here's hoping Doc finds "his" person soon,

Thanks!

Thank you for posting Angie!  I can't believe we slipped and didn't get a Doc thread started here before.  Someone should have smacked me and woke me up sooner.

I will just share a couple of the pics we did of Doc on his arrival, and then I'll share more later on....I just happen to have these handy right now.  He is such a sweet heart.  He has settled in so nicely with the herd and he was a really good boy for his feet being trimmed last Friday (I think I posted a pic of that somewhere on the forum, probably the day-to-day thread).

Anyway, here are a couple more of shots of Doc to share here on the forum.

Awwe, he's such a handsome boy.  His coat is so shiny and iridescent and his mane and tail always stay wavy.  I miss him but I know he's in the right place to find the right person for him.    He does have some trust issues but he tries sooo hard to do the right thing and wants to do good.  Whoever gets him will have to be willing to take things slow and let him "tell you" when he is ready to move on to the next thing.  As long as someone takes there time with him and doesn't try to "make him" do anything or "show him who's boss" (which scares the daylights out of him) they'll do just fine.   He's really not scared of "things", when he gets scared it's because he things someone is going to get him.  He's traffic safe, dogs, will cross just about any obstacle, goes in the water with no fuss, ponies off the 4 wheeler or another horse, etc.  I am NOT saying he's a broke horse by any means, just that the pieces are there for someone with patience to put the puzzle together.    Hopefully this all makes sense.

Also wanted to add that with his bloodlines he should be a reining (or cutting) wizard if someone gets to that point with him.  I think he'd love reining as it's pretty predictable each time.  He thrives on routine and knowing what comes next.

I used to do English and western pleasure occasionally at open shows, and trail ride. But  now i would like to experiment and try many different disciplines to find what i truly like, reining or cutting would be fun to learn, or maybe dressage.

Oh, I bet he'd love dressage too!  :-)  Good luck getting your application done and approved!  Crossing fingers for you!

I've been wondering why this horse hasn't been snatched up yet!  He's gorgeous and sounds like he has a pretty good head on his shoulders.  The only reason we didn't check him out was bc he is too young and green for my husband.  I would be happy working with him, but I already have one that needs the work.  Doc seems like he'd be a fun horse that could end up being pretty versatile, given the time.  Good luck!

I was re-reading my post (message#10)  I wanted to clarify my statement:  "He's traffic safe, dogs, will cross just about any obstacle, goes in the water with no fuss, ponies off the 4 wheeler or another horse, etc."  I've done all these things on the ground with him and while he is used to dogs and traffic and will cross plywood, ground poles, etc under saddle I don't want to mislead anyone into thinking he's ready to just go hit the trails.  :-)  He's a good boy with worlds of potential though!

is he being taught with Parelli in the pictures? it looks as if he is. I think that would be a good training method for him.

Hi Sarah,
Yes, the trainer I took him to does use a lot of the same methods as Parelli.  He really seemed to respond well to it.  :-)

Hi Angie, we're in the process of trying to get in touch with you to share the good news and are without email at the moment (making phone calls, etc.).  Great news, Doc found a fantastic home!!!

I have a picture of Doc with his adopter(s) that I will share as soon as I get a few minutes to get to the pics.  Doc gets to live with Tana!

(Angie, we have given them your contact information and will be giving you theirs as soon as we get in touch with you, and you may see this first.)

I am so happy!  Tears of joy for Doc!  I hear he was a bit of a stinker huh?  I know if a person takes their time with him he'll be a superstar for them!  So wonderful!  Even better that he went with Tana!  Thanks for making my day!

Happy trails & Congrats to the new adopters!

AAAHHHH, Christie snuck BOTH of those beauties home.  Sneaky sneaky.  I always thought Doc was gorgeous and again, if I were looking for a project for me I would have had to check him out.  He'll be worth the effort.

It took me a little longer than anticipated to get to the photos today, and I apologize for the delay everyone.

Eric has a great background with horses and he related very well to Doc and understands the handling and training that Doc needs.  Angie, Doc was a bit of a stinker, but I'm sure he's going to do great with Eric and Christie.

Thanks again Eric and Christie!!

Here is a quick pic of Eric and Doc

Interestingly, I see in the picture above where Angie is riding Doc that there is a back cinch...    We had wondered about that.
