| #56 | Sorry, I have not put as many updates on here as I should have. Doc and I had another great weekend. Christie on Tana and I on Doc went for a ride yesterday. Things went really well took him through some water and brush with no real issues. I finally got him into a lope and that has really nice.
Today I worked on starting to ask him to drag a tire from the saddle horn. He did pretty well. I looped the rope around the horn and lead him around the pen. He did really well. The issue came up when he decided to turn and the rope went behind him. The rope also got under his tail, but after a loop around the pen bucking, I stepped in front of him and he stopped. I wasn't all that surprised by his reaction, but we have worked desensitizing him to the rope before. I guess it is a little different when the tire is chasing you around as you try and get away.
I rode him after all this and he seemed fine. Sorry we have not sent any pictures, just bad timing to try coordinate camera and me riding. Hope everyone is doing well. More to come later.

| #59 | Eric,
You know, Doc's reaction to anything that scares or upsets him may always be to buck...but man, the fact that he stopped when you stepped in front of him speaks volumes, nevermind that you then got on and went for a ride...grin...
I am just really tickled for both of you...smile...

| #60 | Eric, you forgot to mention that I rode Doc the other day too! OK--so I'm not quite the cowboy/girl E is when it comes to bravery in the buckin' dept and was a bit nervous, but took him out of the round pen and down the trail. Since it was my first ride on him, I stuck to just walking. Eric really has done an amazing job w/ that boy---way more relaxed than a couple months ago. Have a great night, C |

| #61 | Here is the latest on Doc's transformation. Christie and I took the adopted kids out for 2.5 hrs at Wildcat state park. It was great. It snowed a little and it's was really windy but the horses did great. Doc and I worked on crossing a small stream and forging through mud very successfully. He needs some more miles, but he is doing great. It was really nice to get him in a place that is out of his comfort zone, if he has one. It was nice to see the change in him as the day wore on. He is making great process. |

I see Doc has Chris Cox reins just wondering if Eric used Chris Cox training with Doc. Chris is going to be in Oregon Wi in August!!! And has Eric ever consider doing the Mustang Challenge in Madison. |

| #68 | Those are reins I bought from Clinton Anderson. They are just a set of mecate or McCarty reins popular with buckaroo cowboys in the northwest. I really like these reins. We use a mix of Clinton Anderson and Buck Brannaman. I really like Buck's philosophy, but he so good with horses that sometimes what works for him does not seem to go over so well with me, so I refer to Clinton to get to the same point. We have learned so much from watching all the different trainers. As far as the Mustang Challenge, I do not think I am any where close to being good enough to go down that road. Maybe some day when I am old and wise. |

Love the updates, love the pictures, and love you don't stick to just one kind of training, but what works for you. Both trainers you follow I think are really good ones. Look forward to more updates! |
